Product Description
Glycerol (chemical formula C₃H₈O₃), commonly known as glycerin, is a naturally occurring triol widely used in food, pharmaceuticals, cosmetics, and chemical industries. Its high-purity forms (e.g., USP, EP grades) are suitable for high-end applications, while industrial-grade glycerin is used for chemical synthesis.
Our company’s glycerol is derived from palm oil, a natural vegetable oil, ensuring high purity, no harmful substances, and safe use.
Main Types: Product Grades and Standards
- Industrial Grade Glycerol: Purity ≥95%, used in coatings, resins, and lubricants.
- Food Grade Glycerol (E422): ≥99.5%, compliant with FDA and GB 29950 (China), used as a food additive.
- Medical Grade Glycerol (USP/EP): ≥99.7%, applied in pharmaceuticals, injections, and cosmetics.
- Cosmetic Grade Glycerol: High purity, low impurities, used in skin care products and toothpaste.
Application Areas
① Core Humectant:
Addition rate: Typically 1–3% (based on tobacco weight), locks in moisture to prevent tobacco brittleness.
Mixed with propylene glycol (usually glycerol:PG = 7:3) to balance cost and effect.
② Taste Improvement:
Produces a subtle caramel sweetness when burned, neutralizing tobacco irritation.
Works with sugars (e.g., honey extract) to enhance sweetness.
③ Special Applications:
Used for fermentation and moisture retention in cigar tobacco processing.
Serves as a wetting matrix in oral tobacco (snuff).
